Ikigai
Nirvana got me into electric guitars about 25 years ago. Back then, I bought my first Affinity Strat from Squier in Olympic White from Siggi Schwarz (who also sold guitars to Aerosmith and Bob Marley's band). Over time, this guitar had to endure a lot: various modifications, relic work, countless concerts, and long nights in the rehearsal room. I was fortunate enough to acquire, play, and repair many guitars. Most recently, two F* Strats from the 60s, which were completely disassembled and measured for various templates. In addition to Custom Shop guitars, my personal collection also includes boutique guitars, which can be used to learn how certain details can be solved “differently.”
Guitar making is my “ikigai,” meaning that while others go play tennis or lift weights, I recharge my batteries when I concentrate on tasks such as milling or shaping contours by hand. My training is in the metalworking field, so working with micrometers and creating perfect surfaces by hand is deeply ingrained in me.
